i had an interview on friday afternoon. i think that it went very well and would be a position that i would greatly enjoy. the official title is student program advisor, but specifically i would work with transfer students in their adaptation to life at the university. it's a position that requires academic advisor skills as well as student affairs stuff and it's a new endeavor which is always exciting. i hope to hear something very soon. they did all the interviews on friday and expect to notify people in the next week or so.
i will of course keep you posted but keep your fingers crossed that i hear from one of these crazy jobs soon.
p.s.- kate tip: don't try on suits the day of your interview while in the process of losing weight. totally demoralizing. yay for fun accessories. :)

- I recently graduated with my Ph.D. in Sociology and I'm still trying to get used to the fact that I'm done with school forever. I've been teaching in my first faculty position since August 07, which is going well. Not sure what's next on the horizon, but I know I will figure it out. Currently, I'm living back in Iowa and readjusting to life in the Midwest. In general, I'm pretty laid back, funny, and open minded. Love movies, playing golf, takin' it easy with friends, drinking coffee, writing in my journal, road trips, traveling, beer, wine, and white russians, and monkeys. :) Hmmm...what else? I miss being close to friends who are far away, but it has been nice meeting new people and being closer to family. I think those are the basics. :) Thanks for reading.

On the suit thing: Talbots has had some summer suits on sale recently... and they have very forgiving sizing so even if you are trying on the day of an interview, you will feel totally good that you're wearing a suti that's 2 sizes smaller than the pants you walked in in.
